What is an ROV?

A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) is a tethered underwater robot. They are common in deepwater industries such as offshore hydrocarbon extraction.

An ROV may sometimes be called a remotely operated underwater vehicle to distinguish it from remote control vehicles operating on land or in the air. ROVs are unoccupied, highly manoeuvrable and operated by a person aboard a vessel. They are linked to the ship by a tether (sometimes referred to as an umbilical cable), a group of cables that carry electrical power, video and data signals back and forth between the operator and the vehicle. High power applications will often use hydraulics in addition to electrical cabling.

Most ROVs are equipped with at least a video camera and lights. Additional equipment is commonly added to expand the vehicle's capabilities. These may include sonars, magnetometers, a still camera, a manipulator or cutting arm, water samplers, and instruments that measure water clarity, light penetration and temperature.

What is an ROV Pilot Technician or ROV Tooling Technician?

An ROV Pilot in the offshore industry works with remotely operated vehicles, which are quickly becoming one of the most vital tools offshore. Companies require pilots and technicians that are capable of operating and maintaining them. An off-course extra (not guaranteed as not part of the course) is the possibility of using the ROV to inspect the wrecks of Subic such as the US Battleship New York, A USN Jet Fighter etc.

This Accredited and Certificated Fiber Optics Technician Course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a Fiber Optics Technician or who needs to understand or use Fiber Technology within their job. This program combines both theory and practical exercises with at least 75% hands-on activities. This course introduces the student to industry standards governing FTTD (Fiber To The Desk), FTTH (Fiber To The Home, LAN/WAN fiber networks and further introduces the student to Practical Fusion and Mechanical Splicing.

6 day Combined − Basic CFOTplus FTTx − FTTH − CFOSH

Our objective in this combined course is to provide our students with the hands-on knowledge and the ability to identify fiber types, recognize various connectors used in fiber installation; and install, terminate, splice and properly fault test installed fiber cable to existing standards.
